juneathon day 13: an anniversary of sorts

I’m rubbish at statistics, but my WordPress Dashboard reliably informs me that this is my 200th post. That’s 200 little parcels of gibberish that, over time, I’ve left on your virtual doorstep, rung the doorbell and then run away sniggering.

200 posts since February 2009… put like that it doesn’t sound quite as impressive. Anyway, today against my better judgement (but with an eye on the schedule for the rest of the week), I went out for a run. Legs were still weary and calves still tight from yesterday but once I started, I felt reasonably ok so decided on the out and back loop following the river. This has become a Juneathon staple but serves a number of purposes. It is long enough to feel like I have actually put some effort in. It is varied and / or pretty enough to stop me getting bored and it is a route I know so well, I can effectively let my mind wander and let the legs and the subconcious get me home. And it’s 11.1kms to add to the Juneathon tally.
The rest of the week looks like this: Bike ride Tuesday, Run Wednesday, Run Thursday, Bike Ride Friday, Run Saturday and then to round off the week The London To Brighton Bike Ride on Sunday. And after that we are into the final third of Juneathon.

Thank you for all the comments and feedback over the past 200 posts. Onwards to the next 200…

sacrifice

Another busy one today but fortunately one where it was possible to work from home. As I had a lot to get done, and as I’ll have one eye on the England game this afternoon whilst working, an early start was called for – which isn’t actually too horific if working from home but does rule out the possibility of an early morning run. And… as it is my wedding anniversary today and we had decided on an Anniversary Barbecue, that effectively ruled out the possibility of an evening run too. So there was nothing left but to go out at midday, in the blazing sunshine and get 5.13kms in the bag.

The other day, Fitartist pondered the existence of The Toenail Fairy after her toenail came off. I too had a similar fate this morning when I realised that half of the nail on my little toe seemed to be sticking out at an unusual angle. A quick inspection proved that it was hanging off so I needed to remove it. I shall not be placing this under my pillow but instead I shall use it as an offering to The Juneathon God who I hope in return will look kindly upon my knackered legs and get them through the next seven days.

Juneathon so far: Run – 153.77kms / Cycle – 116.34kms

train not training

Dressing Up – The 5 to 1 Ratio – Mañana

Not much to report for today. I seemed to have managed to pass myself off as a responsible adult fairly well and spent much more time than is good for me sitting on tubes and trains. My 5 hour round trip for a one hour meeting made me feel sluggish and by the time I got back home, replete with flowers for Mrs eatingtrees to say thanks for putting up with me for the past 10 years, I didn’t feel like going back out for a run. Todays Juneathon activity was limited to a few press-ups and crunches too soon after dinner. All things being well, I may actually get out to run for a bit tomorrow.

Juneathon Stats: 4 sets of press ups – 50 / 50 / 50 / 40 (190 total for day), 3 sets of stomach crunches – 100 / 100 / 100 (300 total for day)

Soundtrack to this post: Clint Eastwood – Gorillaz
